Description

No 4 Mk 2 Lee-Enfield bolt action rifle. The action is made from ordnance steel and is marked on the left side No4 Mk2 UF55 and the serial number. The metal parts have a dark blue/black, high lustre finish. It has a wooden stock is made from yellow beech and features a two piece hand guard which is secured by a front and central barrel band. The butt has a brass plate with a spring loaded trap door for cleaning equipment. The rear sight is an adjustable leaf aperture graduated from 200 to 1300 yards and the front sight is a fixed blade. The rifle has all matching serial numbers and is fitted with a khaki webbing sling.
History / Summary

The No 4 Mk 2 bolt action rifle was the last variant of the .303 calibre Lee-Enfield rifle made in England. They were produced from 1949 to 1955 and used primarily by the British and Irish Armies before being replaced by the L1A1 self loading rifle.
