1. Purchase the firearm
You may purchase a firearm before the licence for that firearm has been approved. Payment does not allow immediate possession; the firearm remains under GetGear’s licensed control while the licensing process is completed.
2. Licence-application documents
After purchase, GetGear will provide the firearm and dealer documentation required for the licence application so you can begin the licensing process.
3. Storage while licensing
GetGear stores a purchased firearm free of charge for nine months from the purchase date. After the nine-month free-storage period, storage fees will apply at GetGear’s current storage rate. Contact GetGear if you need the current rate.
4. Use your firearm at the GetGear range
While your licence application is in progress, your purchased firearm may be used at the GetGear shooting range, subject to GetGear’s range procedures, supervision and applicable requirements. The firearm remains in GetGear’s possession.
5. Licence approved & collection
Once the licence or relevant authorisation is approved, provide GetGear with the required licence documentation and identification. After verification, the firearm may be released. Only the person named on the approved licence or authorisation may collect the firearm.
Dealer transfer
If you cannot collect from GetGear, nominate a suitable licensed firearm dealer and confirm that the dealer is willing to receive the firearm. GetGear can then arrange the lawful dealer-to-dealer transfer. Transport, transfer or receiving-dealer charges may apply and should be confirmed for the transaction.
PayJustNow
PayJustNow can be used for a firearm purchase where PayJustNow approves the transaction. Once the first instalment is successfully completed and the transaction is confirmed, GetGear treats the firearm as paid and reserved. The licensing and lawful handover requirements still apply.
